Ensure ‘whistleblowing’ to Protect Against Irregularities

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Fazle Kabir emphasized the importance of implementing a ‘whistleblowing’ system in the banking sector to protect the industry from anomalies, according to BSS.

“The banking industry is crucial to the country’s economic development. “If we ensure the ‘whistleblowing’ perfectly, we can protect the irregularities in the banking industry,” he stated while addressing as the principal guest at an anti-money laundering conference at a resort in Habiganj, according to a press release.

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) and the Association of Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officers and Banks in Bangladesh (AACOBB) organized the seminar.

Abu Hena Mohd Razee Hassan, the head of Bangladesh’s Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), attended the conference as a special guest. Kezi Enayet Hossain, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank’s Sylhet Office, also attended the seminar.

Fazle Kabir further stated that the country is progressing by developing strong finance and service sectors to meet the goals of Vision-2021 and Vision-2041.
